LE-01 Aleksei’s March (Level 0.5) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
students’ absolute favourite! They’re humming the tune all day! Interested in playing it the following year - exceptional appeal! Range up to Bb (below clar. break) 7 pitches = total range for all instruments. An excellent concert piece! (C minor - staccato, accents, 2 repeat sections) (Concert Pitches Bb C D Eb F G Ab)

LE-02 Tuareg Caravan (Level 1) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
works the first 7 notes like Aleksei’s with more 8th notes - busy for all instruments; melody gives impression of riding camels in the desert over the dunes. (Concert Pitches Bb C D Eb F G Ab)

LE-03 Roundup at Cody’s (Level 1) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
attention-getting intro for trumpets, horns, syncopated rhythms (8th + 1/4 + 8th) and (8th - dotted 1/4), introduces clarinet register C after 2 bars of rest to prepare before playing it, with fingering provided on the parts. Trumpet range 1 octave to C. One octave range for other instruments. Busy percussion.

LE-04 Just Movin’ Along (Level 0.5) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
a relaxing tune (6 pitches for all instruments). Students enjoy. It extends endurance comfortably beyond the typical 8-measure method line.

LE-05 TDT for Winds & Percussion (Level 0.5) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
written for a struggling beginning brass class learn the common fingerings/positions for limited notes. They were able to enjoy success and progress. (FYI: TDT = tonic-dominant-tonic)

LE-06 Fred Foley’s Famous Five-Note March (Level 0.5) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
a favourite for beginning classes who get excited about a piece 80 bars long involving the first 5 notes, counting, endurance and control. Percussion plays throughout, keeping the group together. Rhythms vary from 8th notes to dotted 1/2’s with call and answer between brass and woodwinds. 8th notes create motion and energy, longer notes develop endurance, and rests provide timely breaks. Everyone experiences playing both lead and backup parts. Great for performance!

LE-07 Swingin’ at 5! (Level 0.5) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
biggest seller of the first 5-note charts to date! Great for introducing swing style! Excellent student appeal! (Ride cymbal, vibra-slap, cowbell, 2 toms, bass drum - consider encouraging your drum set player to ad-lib to suit the music!)

LE-08 Gimme a Break! (Level 1.5 - 2) $56.50 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
specifically written to teach clarinets from low to upper register via slurring for greater initial success, with technical instructions included in the parts. Motivating parts for all instruments with glissandi for trombones, 8-bar percussion section soli, etc. Appeals to all instrumentalists, effective in the classroom or in a concert.

LE-09 Canada Rock! (Level 1.5 - 2) $52.50 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
16-bars for the percussion section to cook with 8 bars of drums, 8 bars of metallic sounds (cowbell, agogo bells, tambourine, ride cymbal) shaker, sleigh bells, referee whistle, etc. Clarinet 1 plays high G stepwise to C, while Clarinet 2 plays G across the break to C. This is an absolute favourite! Trumpets play to 3rd space C.

LE-10 Tour de Force! (Level 1) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
Students like this dramatic piece! All instruments play within 1 octave range - e.g. clarinets & trumpets from low A to A 2nd space. Starts in minor, ends in relative major - from conflict to satisfying resolution.

LE-11 Leave it to Rock! (Level 1.5) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
a drum set feature piece with 2 solo parts (easier bass drum with 3 toms, 8th notes, or more complicated bass drum, with 4 toms & 16th notes) for your developing drummer. All clarinets play upper register (marked in parts) and other instruments experience increased range. A major hit with any drummer and his/her accompanying band!

LE-12 Swingin’ at Docks (Level 2) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
a cheerful swing tune. Clarinet 1 plays upper register while Clarinet 2 remains below the
break in lower register. 1st trumpet to F-5th line. Solo line for alto sax with trombone support. No trombone? Give the ‘bone part to alto sax, add 3 sharps to the key, and read as if in treble clef for a solution!

LE-13 The Rebels! (Level 1) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
Wish I wrote this before I retired! As per Aleksei’s March, Tuareg Caravan, the same 7 pitches, yet Rebels! sounds full and more senior. Amazing results within limited ranges! Begins with gentle flute/bells soli interrupted quickly by a tutti forte rhythmic entry. Very dramatic and exciting with solo lines for several sections including all saxophones. The title says it all. Definitely a winner!

LE-14 Rock Seven! (Level 1) $49.95 [PDF score] listen to sample audio file
Written to involve 3 percussionists in a beginning class where I supply taught for 2 days, effectively supplementing the method book material. Drum set involves bass, snare & closed hi-hat. Percussion includes busy cowbell and shaker. Another successful 7-note winner with both students and audiences!
